ABOUT LAST NIGHT, VOL. “Durant Returns To Seattle, Drops 63 Points In Jamal Crawford Pro-Am!”
Seattle Basketball fans really miss Kevin Durant…..and Kevin Durant really misses being in Seattle, so last night’s much anticipated return to the city where his pro career all began was bound to be special.
After 5 long years Durant returned to his old stomping grounds to lace up his new KD VI’s as a special guest participating in Jamal Crawford’s latest Pro-Am Summer League game. As Durant made his way on to the court, the only thing missing was his old Sonic uniform. But that didn’t matter to the packed house of 3,000 Sonic fans who had patiently awaited his arrival and ensuing performance.
Of course, KD did not disappoint, playing all but 15 seconds of the game and dropping 63 points (on 62 shot attempts!) in a loss to Jamal Crawford’s team. That 63 points is a 2013 league record and only three shy of KD’s legendary 66 point explosion last August in Harlem’s Rucker Park. Props to Ballislife.com for capturing all the action on video again.
Not to be completely overshadowed in his own tournament, Crawford had 44 of his own and a much more efficient game. The night, however, belonged to Durant who after the game expressed his love for Seattle and it’s fans via Twitter.
I know Seattle Basketball fans are still bitter over losing Durant and their team, but if they ever succeeds in getting a NBA team back, it’s hard for me to imagine Durant not ending up back there at some point in his career.
